  • Activate: Increase awareness of the parks as a cultural resource on par with museums; program the park with educational events

  • Maintain: Keep the gardens at the level of a residential garden

    What the organization will do

  • Establish guidelines for restoration and maintenance consistent with Halprin's design vision
  •  
  • Secure funding sources for maintenance and capital improvements
  •  
  • Coordinate on all levels with the city of Portland and private stakeholders
  •  
  • Educate the public about the park sequence, facilitate programming and educational outreach
  •  
  • Be a resource for institutions and individulas interested in Halprin's design legacy

  • The Halprin Landscape Conservancy is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Your contribution is a tax deductable charitable donation. All donations received are used to carry out our mission of Activating, Improving and Maintaining the landscape and features of the Halprin’s Portland Open Space Sequence. At this time HLC does not have paid staff. All activities and events of HLC are organized by a volunteer Board of Directors and funded directly from private and corporate contributions. All contributions help educate and raise local, national and global awareness of this unique urban design and landscape architecture project that helped to form not only Portland Oregon’s urban design heritage but also influence that of many cities across the globe.   • The HLC Board of Directors is an all volunteer board that provides their personal attention to inquiries and requests for educational material and research resources to students, scholars and professionals interested in the Portland Open Space Sequence. The Board of Directors also provides group tours, presentations and other public outreach events.
